goal The Center for Research in Healthcare Innovation Management (CRHIM), an partnership between IESE and Accenture, has been presented in Barcelona. It was created with the aim of contributing to the transformation of the healthcare sector through the training of its managers, the applied research and the creation of a forum for discussion on the sector. The goal of the CRHIM, which will be directed by professors Jaume Ribera and Magda Rosenmöller, and which will include the participation of other professors who are experts in the sector such as Núria Mas and Beatriz Muñoz-Seca, is to contribute to the transformation of the sector through applied research projects.

The current crisis in the healthcare sector demonstrates more than ever that innovations at management are essential for improving health, healthcare and public finances. IESE aims to contribute to the management professionby being at the forefront of management trends in business and public administration. One of the sectors to which IESE pays special attention is healthcare.

During the presentation, Richard Bohmer, an expert in healthcare management , highlighted the importance of initiatives such as this center. The Harvard Business School professor highlighted the current high demand for doctors and nurses with management skills, as medical knowledge is becoming increasingly specific and healthcare costs are rising around the world. The expert recalled a study according to which nurses spend only 30-40% of their work schedule on job-specific activities, something that could be remedied through innovation and a more efficient management . "Increasingly, it is the organizational issue that determines the level of quality in healthcare," he said.

"We want this center to become a benchmark," said Prof. Josep Valor, who opened the event by recalling IESE's vocation and commitment to the healthcare sector, reflected in its various programs and initiatives, culminating in the creation of this center. He stressed the importance of innovation and the need to make efficient use of resources.

For his part, Javier Mur, partner director of Accenture Healthcare, listed some of the keys to improving the sector: innovation at management, seeking synergies with suppliers, coordination with care levels and patient stratification.

Finally, Health Minister Boi Ruiz congratulated IESE on the initiative and reflected on the state of the sector. "Innovation is a moral obligation," he said, adding that it should not depend on available resources. "We come from an innovative model ," he explained, recalling that in recent years innovation is lagging behind due to the large and lengthy debates organized around each initiative. "We need to improve and create new processes to improve management and increase productivity," he finally pointed out.
