Upon reaching the third year of degree program, students of the Degrees in Literature and Creative Writing (LEC) and in language and Spanish Literature embark on the project "Contar una historia", framed in the subject "Escritura Narrativa", taught by Professor Javier de Navascués.

This is an innovation project professor through integrated learning with other subjects of these Degrees, such as World Literature in English III, taught by Professor and Rosalía Baena; Theater, whose Senior Associate Professor is Víctor García Ruiz; and Theory of Literature, taught by Professor Luis Galván.

In a internship and dynamic way, students learn to write a novel throughout the semester. goal The project is divided into three stages: in the first phase, students must read a current novel each week, which they then discuss at class, with the aim of analyzing the techniques and characteristics of its narrative.

Once the theoretical part is finished, the students begin to write a novel. In this phase, Professor Navascués guides them in the development of the idea and gives them the opportunity to work on it with the writer Lorenzo Silva, award Planeta 2012 and visiting professor of the School of Philosophy y Letras. At the end of the work, the students present their novels before a panel, made up of the professors of the subjects that are part of project and some writers.

"To judge the validity of a novel and to qualify the projects, there is no single criterion or rule . As happens in conventional novels, part of the public responds in favor and another against," says Professor Navascués. In this way, students must explain to writing professionals how they have conceived their novel, an exercise that is a learning exercise, not only for their academic development , but also for their future professional degree program .

In the following video, Professor Javier de Navascués explains the project and its methodology a little more in depth and María Pérez Ibáñez, 4th year student of the Degree in Literature and Creative Writing (LEC) shares a evaluation of her learning.
