At the "summit" of Nutrition and Neuroscience
The students of Master's Degree E-MENU 2016 attended the 9th workshop on Nutrition and Neuroscience organized by the University of Bordeaux.
For the ninth consecutive year, the students of the EuropeanMaster's Degree in Food, Nutrition and Metabolism (E-MENU) have participated in the workshop on Nutrition and Neuroscience organized by the University of Bordeaux - ranked among the top 10 universities in the country according to the Webometrics ranking - and attended by some of the most renowned researchers in these areas in Europe, such as Giovanni Marsicano, Daniela Cota, Sophie Layé, Guillaume Ferreira, among others.
The goal of the participation of the students in this scientific meeting is that it serves as a complement to the knowledge acquired in the postgraduate program, and as an experience in a quotation of the highest scientific level, with speakers from the University of Bordeaux, San Pablo-CEU and the University of Navarra.
In the latter case, Professor Silvia Lorente gave the session "Role of omega-3 fatty acids on inflammatory and degenerative diseases", in which she addressed the most relevant results obtained in various programs of study where they analyzed the possible beneficial effects of omega-3 on health. "Specifically, programs of study on inflammatory diseases -inflammatory bowel disease, rheumatoid arthritis- as well as obesity, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases".
Professor Pedro González Muniesa gave a talk on "The endocannbinoid system, inflammation and obesity", on how the endocannabinoid system could be a therapeutic target to modulate or correct the pro-inflammatory state that develops in obesity.
