Session on nutrition at position by Professor Miguel Angel Martinez

The 2nd year Nursing students attended a session at position of Full Professor Miguel Ángel Martínez within the subject "Nutrition and Dietetics", taught by Professors Drs. Leire Ambrosio and Jesús Martín, from department of Nursing Care for Adult Patients of School Nursing.
Martinez, director of department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health, is also Full Professor of Harvard University and researcher principal of the SUN epidemiological research cohort, author of more than 500 articles in high impact scientific journals, director of 32 doctoral thesis , publisher of more than 20 books and publisher associate of the British Journal of Nutrition.
As an expert in Mediterranean per diem expenses , Professor Martínez focused his class on debunking 10 myths associated with the consumption of certain foods, such as milk, eggs, coffee or nuts. Faced with the disparity of programs of study and information on the benefits of following one per diem expenses or another, Miguel Ángel Martínez appealed to scientific evidence and drew the students' attention to "agnogenesis", which consists of the deliberate production of information or ideas to generate confusion and ignorance.
Following Professor Martínez's presentation, students were able to ask him questions about specific foods and nutritional habits.
