Xabier Villanueva, from high school Escolapios Calasanz; Leyre Andión, from high school FEC Vedruna; and Adriana García Arizcuren, from IES Basoko, have won the local phase of the XIII Olympiad of Philosophy, in their modality of essay, photography and moral dilemmas respectively. The submission of prizes of the competition, to which 211 students of 3rd and 4th ESO and 1st and 2nd of high school diploma from 24 schools in Navarra, took place at the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra. The winners will represent the Comunidad Foral in the Philosophical Olympiad of Spain, to be held on April 19 and 20 in Bilbao.

In the modality of essay were also awarded to Álvaro García Durán, from high school Miravalles-El Redín (2nd award); and Eunate Sáez, from high school Sagrado Corazón (3rd award). In addition, runner-up prizes were awarded to Ana Díaz (high school Sagrado Corazón), Claudia Barandalla (high school San Ignacio) and Laura Soto Alonso (high school Santa Teresa).

In the category of philosophical photography, the second award was awarded to Juan José Larrañeta (high school San Cernin), and the third to Noemí Cebrián (high school Escolapios Calasanz). In moral dilemmas, Violeta Saiz de Agapito (high school Escolapios Calasanz) received the second prize award.

The Olympiad of Philosophy seeks to encourage reflection, critical thinking and dialogue in young people, as well as to consolidate and complement the contents of philosophical subjects. It also has as goal to establish links between the teachers of Philosophy of Navarra and to create spaces of communication between the teaching upper and secondary schools. It has the partnership of Kukuxumusu, the publishing house Chair , Librerías Troa, the department of Education of the Government of Navarra, and the high school Oficial de Doctores y Licenciados de Navarra.
