"Watching television is the most negative behavior from the point of view of obesity", according to Luis Moreno, Full Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health of the University of Zaragoza. This was stated at the closing of the X EuropeanMaster's Degree on Food, Nutrition and Metabolism (E-MENU) of the School of Pharmacy of the University of Navarra.
During the lecture, entitled"Prevention of childhood obesity", Professor Moreno presented the data of several international programs of study that demonstrate the direct relationship between sedentary behaviors and the prevalence of excess weight in children between 2 and 9 years of age."Obesity is a disease that needs to be fought as soon as possible," he insisted. "It leads to alterations in the organism, mainly of subject cardiovascular, such as hypertension; or of subject endocrine such as diabetes subject 2 or a resistance to insulin. It also causes psychosocial complications such as leave self-esteem in young people". It is necessary, he concluded, "tocarry out better health promotion programs that combine a healthy diet with physical activity".
After her words, the Vice-Dean of academic staff and research of the academic center María Javier Ramírez, who presided over the event together with director of postgraduate program Alfredo Martínez, ended the event with the presentation of graduation sashes and the submission of diplomas.
