The Fundación de las Cajas de Ahorros (Funcas) made submission last November 29th the Enrique Fuentes Quintana Awards to the best doctoral thesis in four areas: Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics, Architecture and Physics, and Humanities.

César Rina Simón's work , directed by Professor Francisco Javier Caspistegui, and entitled degree scroll Iberisms. Peninsular Projections, Longings and Expectations 1848-1898received the recognition of Humanities, among 72 thesis presented in this category. The rest of the winners belong to the Pompeu Fabra and Carlos III universities of Madrid.

Jorge Sáinz, University Secretary of Universities, and Carlos Ocaña, director general of Funcas, presided over the ceremony in which the work of research of the four award winners was recognized.

The awards

Funcas awards the excellence of the work of research economic and social in its academic format, the doctoral thesis , since 2007. Until now, the award was awarded in a single field, the Social Sciences, but since this year, the Foundation has extended it to three new categories, Health Sciences, Engineering, Mathematics or Physics and Humanities. The goal is to reward the effort, commitment and work required to carry out a doctoral thesis thesis .

The Enrique Fuentes Quintana Awards are named after one of the economists of the second half of the 20th century with the greatest academic and social influence in Spain.

The prizes are endowed with five thousand euros gross and the publication of the thesis in the Foundation's collection programs of study
