Students from Degree at Philosophy, Politics and Economics participate in a course on international politics and diplomacy in Madrid.

They have attended various academic sessions and activities at the Diplomatic School and the Ramón Areces Foundation.

About 70 students of 1st and 4th year of Degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) have traveled to Madrid to participate in a course on international politics and diplomacy. For two days, they attended various training sessions and activities at the Diplomatic School and the Ramón Areces Foundation. They also had the opportunity to visit the campus in Madrid, where they held a meeting with three PPE graduates, who are currently studying the Master's Degree in Personnel Management Service in Organizations (MDPO).

Thursday's workshop took place at the Diplomatic School, where they were received by their ambassador director, Santiago Miralles. The welcoming ceremony also included speeches by Manuel Azcona, from the Ramón Areces Foundation, and Julia Pavón, dean of the School of Philosophy y Letras.

This was followed by a session with Alvaro Kirkpatrick, President of the Tribunal of the Diplomatic Examinations degree program , who spoke to them about issues related to access to this professional option. The second session was given by Maria Bassols, Director of the International Civil Servants Unit, at position . In it, the students learned about the various professional opportunities that graduates of her profile have in the different international organizations. Javier Sanabria, board member advisor of the Diplomatic School, spoke about the diplomatic profession.

degree scroll After a lunch that they shared with the speakers, our students had a meeting with Román Oyarzún, board member advisor of the Diplomatic School, who gave a session entitled "Diplomatic Missions. The Sector Counseling Offices in an Embassy. The role of the head of mission statement". The workshop ended with a discussion paper to position by Carmen Cano de Lasala, Deputy Director General for South and East Asia of the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From her, the students learned about the European External Action Service.

On Friday 20, the sessions were held at the headquarters of the Ramon Areces Foundation, whose director, Raimundo Perez Hernandez, gave a lecture at the University of Navarra last February to PPE students. Alvaro Ortega, director political attachment of the General Administration of Foreign Policy and Security of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, approached our students the general lines of the foreign policy of our country. Then, Ricardo Sánchez-Blanco, University Secretary of Foreign Affairs and Commercial Affairs of the administrative office of State for the European Union gave the session "The European Union as the axis of the Foreign Policy of Spain". The workshop ended with the intervention of José María Beneyto, Full Professor of International Public Law and European Community Law.
