57 bids for the final projects Master's Degree of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition

The students of Master's Degree E-MENU and MIDI will be able to fill in the 30 ECTS credit in companies, universities and national and international research centers.

In total, the students of the Master's Degree in research, development and Innovation of Medicines (MIDI) and the Master's Degree European in Food, Nutrition and Metabolism (E-MENU) of the University of Navarra will have 57 offers this year to take the work end of Master's Degree, the mandatory subject of both postgraduate courses that includes 30 ECTS credit.

In the case of MIDI, the work is developed during six months -between June and December- and has as goal to introduce the student in the field of the research applied in a pharmaceutical business , a department of the University or in a research center. The areas covered are preclinical research , clinical research , quality, registries and management of the research. In total, the students of the XXVI promotion of this Master's Degree will be eligible for 40 offers of work end of Master's Degree (21 at the University of Navarra, CIMA and CUN, and 19 in companies). According to manager, Silvia Pérez, "the awarding process takes into account the preferences of student, which chooses 5 projects in order of preference. Then the companies or Departments receive the curricula vitae of the students interested in their project and select the profiles that best fit their interests. In this way, both parties participate in the process and it is similar to what happens in a real work ".

Functional food, food safety or personalized nutrition

The students of Master's Degree E-MENU will be eligible for 17 offers to carry out their work end of Master's Degree in different projects of research on food, nutrition and health. Specifically, the positions are distributed in the areas of functional nutrition, food safety, obesity and complications associated with this disease, personalized nutrition and nutritional epidemiology. In addition, two offers have been presented in national companies in the food and health sector and two projects at the universities of Copenhagen and Maastricht. "In all cases - says Professor Alfredo Martínez - each student is assigned from the beginning of the postgraduate program to a group of research where, with the supervision of a tutor, he will carry out the work end of Master's Degree".

Regarding the assignment process for each place, there is a project committee made up of two professors from Master's Degree, the management and coordination of the program, which analyzes each case based on the preferences and suitability of each student to undertake the different projects. "During the time he/she carries out his/her work end of Master's Degree, the graduate will be assigned a tutor of the University, with whom he/she will maintain a periodic contact to evaluate his/her evolution and the achievement of the proposed results", underlines the manager.
