Sonia Rivas, new director of the Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Studies

He replaces Javier Escrivá, who has been linked to Master's Degree since its beginnings.

Sonia Rivas, lecturer and researcher at the School from Education and Psychology of the University of Navarra, has been appointed as the new director of the Master's Degree in Marriage and Family. Sonia Rivas, professor and researcher at the School of Education and Psychology of the University of Navarra, has been appointed new director of the Master's Degree in Marriage and Family. She will take up her post on 1 September, replacing Professor Javier Escrivá, promoter of the programme since its beginnings in 2000.

The Master's Degree, which this year will celebrate the graduation of its graduating class issue XXI, has a total of more than 640 students from 40 countries who have studied programs of study at modality online, with annual face-to-face weeks.

On the occasion of her appointment, Professor Rivas pointed out that "during all these years the Master's Degree has managed not only to position the training family at a national and international level, but also to distinguish the interdisciplinary nature of the programme, which provides students with a complete vision of the family and a field of action based on science and fundamental values".

Sonia Rivas holds a PhD in Sciences from Education by the University of Navarra, degree scroll which she obtained with award extraordinary in 2003. She later joined the University of Navarra, and is currently Professor at the area of Methods of research and Diagnosis at Education in the School of Education and Psychology, where she teaches teaching of Degree and of postgraduate program. In addition, the new director has taught Master's Degree in Marriage and Family since its first editions. Both the subjects she teaches and the development of her research focus on the analysis of family Education : from an ecosystemic perspective, she studies the family relationships that are ideal for a positive exercise of parenthood, both those that occur within the family and those that result from its interaction with other contexts. Among her latest publications is the coordination of two books in which she also participates as author together with leading experts in their respective areas: Parentalidad positiva: una mirada a una nueva época (Pirámide, 2022), and Escenarios de Aprendizaje: diálogos entre arquitectura, design y Education (Tirant lo Blanch, 2022). He has also developed different innovation projects professor. During her professional career she has held different positions at management both inside and outside the University of Navarra: she was Vice-Dean of Students at the School of Education and Psychology from 2014 to 2019, in the first case, and she is still currently working as board member at the committee Escolar de Navarra in terms of her service in other institutions.
