315 volunteers sought to identify healthy lifestyles to prevent diabetes subject 2
The PREVIEW study aims to curb the increase of this disease, which affects almost 4.5 million Spaniards.

The University of Navarra seeks 315 volunteers to participate in a worldwide obesity and diabetes prevention project subject 2. The goal is to identify the patron saint more effective way of life to curb the increase of this chronic disease that affects almost half of the world's population. 4.5 million Spaniards (about 320 million in the world)associated, among other factors, with increased body weight and sedentary lifestyle.
The PREVIEW study will analyze for the first time two types of per diem expenses and two levels of physical exercise, of proven evidence in body weight control. The dietary and physical activity indicators are: a per diem expenses moderately high in protein and with a higher proportion of complex carbohydrates and fiberThe other has a moderate protein content and a lower proportion of complex carbohydrates and fiber, both combined with intense or moderate physical exercise.
This project, funded by the European Union, is being developed simultaneously in Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom, as well as in Australia and New Zealand. The Center for Nutrition Research of the University of Navarra is the Spanish manager to develop this study, under the direction of professor Alfredo Martinez.
The study is open to all those who are overweight or obese, between the ages of 10-18 and 25-70 years, and are concerned about their health.. "One of the most important features of this study, in addition to its magnitude, is the fact that it habit modification is carried out through the Education nutritional"Professor Martinez points out. "Participants will learn to choosing foods based on simple patterns and with the advice of our entire teambut the design of menus and exercise guidelines will be done by the volunteers themselves," says researcher.
The PREVIEW study is not only about providing a per diem expenses, but also about changing the patron saint diet in the long term deadline. To this end, volunteers interested in participating will have regular sessions of nutritional Education , cooking workshops and physical Education .
