Alex Armand, researcher of the University of Navarra, is visiting the London School of Economics.
He will be from September to mid-December with part of a scholarship he received from the Ramón Areces Foundation in 2015.
Alex Armand, researcher of the Navarra Center for International Development (NCID) of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra, will spend a stay at the London School of Economics (LSE) from early September to mid-December 2016.
The researcher will make this trip thanks to part of the scholarship he received in 2015 from the Ramón Areces Foundation, which grants aid for research in Social Sciences.
During his stay, Armand will work at department of development International, where he will visit Sandra Sequeira, researcher at the center and assistant professor of Economics of development at the LSE. He will also attend seminars and expand his contacts network : "Being there allows me to establish links with other people, so they know my research and can guide me," he said.
It should be recalled that the LSE is ranked 35th in the QS World University Rankings 2015/2016. In the 2016 edition, it is among the top ten centers in the world in the section of social policies, programs of study of development, politics, communication and programs of study media.
Highlighted by the International Initiative for Impact EvaluationAlex Armand was recently included in the Expert Roster of the International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie), which includes around 300 researchers in the area of assessment impact evaluation in different countries, universities and disciplines. From agreement with 3ie, this is a pioneering listing that "can help policymakers identify experts to design and implement evaluations of their interventions for development".
3ie is supporting a project directed by Alex Armand, 'Transparency and Accountability'. The goal of this project is to study how a more transparent performance of companies extracting natural resources affects the individual and collective behavior of government, public institutions, private companies in Kenya and Mozambique.
International Initiative for Impact Evaluation (3ie) is an international NGO that provides grants to promote for evidence-based development policies and programs in low- and middle-income countries. It has offices in New Delhi, London and Washington DC. Its three main sources of funding are the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UKaid through department from development International and the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.
