Tantaka Inclusion at the University has come to an end. The goal of the programme is to help people at risk of social exclusion to have job opportunities, especially after the pandemic. Since 2014, the year in which the University began to collaborate with COCEMFE Navarra in the "Disability and socio-occupational inclusion" programme, 58 people have passed through the University, two of whom have been hired and one completed a year-long scholarship initiation to business .

The participants of this edition of the course, 20/21, have been in positions such as administration, documentation or cleaning, among others. Today they have had the closing ceremony and the submission of diplomas in the Hall of Degrees of the University.

Tomás Gómez-Acebo, Vice President for Alumni, stressed that this programme "is an opportunity to give participants professional experience, working side by side with professionals from the University. In addition, it is also a reinforcement to show students and professionals their abilities and to eliminate prejudices and barriers".

In this sense, "Disability and socio-occupational inclusion" works to strengthen their abilities and their incorporation into the labour market, through "tools to find employment" and work placements in Pamplona and Tudela. "The aim is not only to support them in their search for employment and increase their chances of finding work, but also to work on their self-esteem, as many of them have almost lost hope", explained Cristina Mondragón, president of COCEMFE Navarra at the event, who stressed that this programme "is now more necessary than ever after a pandemic that has hit this group hard".

The event was also attended by Natalia Couto, coordinator of Tantaka, Ikerne Arizcuren, coordinator of employment in COCEMFE Navarra and María Dolores Gutiérrez, Director of the Primary Care and Social Inclusion Service of department of Social Rights of the Government of Navarra.

These internships are a unique work experience at the University that have meant for the five participants "a step forward" and "a work experience", after working at file General, the Cleaning Service, department of Microbiology, department of Chemistry, School of Philosophy and Letters and Core Curriculum. "If it is difficult for these people to find work , to do it in a University with this prestige is more than a line underlined in their curriculum, it is a great stimulus and a boost to continue making a place for themselves in the world of work", explains Ikerne Arizkuren, coordinator of the employment service of COCEMFE Navarra.
