Álvaro Cía wins an FPU grant to develop his thesis at DATAI
Research on Active Learning algorithms, which arise from the application of Statistics to Big Data.

Álvaro Cía, a member of DATAI, has recently obtained a scholarship FPU to develop his thesis doctoral thesis at the high school of Science of the data and Artificial Intelligence (DATAI), under the supervision of Jesús López Fidalgo. The young Navarrese is graduate in Physics and Mathematics from the University of Valladolid and has a Master's degree in Big Data Science from the University of Navarra.
The FPU scholarshipstraining University faculty training ) granted by the Ministry of Universities have a duration of 4 years and their purpose is the research training and the acquisition of teaching skills during the development of the doctoral thesis .
Álvaro's extraordinary academic transcript has enabled him to obtain one of the 16 grants awarded at national level in the field of Mathematics and Statistics. The selection process valued both the academic transcript and the project of thesis and the merits of candidate and its director.
Álvaro has already won important national and international prizes in recent years, such as the gold medal at the XX Ibero-American Physics Olympiad held in Bolivia and the gold medal at the XXVI Spanish Physics Olympiad. He also enjoyed a scholarship of partnership with the department of Theoretical, Atomic and Optical Physics of the University of Valladolid, as the beginning of his degree program research.
