The 61 best Biology students from high school diploma participate in the Spanish Olympiad at the University
During two days, the students will carry out theoretical and practical tests and on Sunday the results will be announced, which will take 8 students to the international competition.

The XII edition of the Spanish Biology Olympiad (OEB) has begun at the University of Navarra, bringing together for the first time in Navarra the 61 best students of Biology from high school diploma, all of them winners in the regional phases held in their respective autonomous communities.
The welcome ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the OEB, Carmen Díaz, and the Dean of the School of Sciences, Luis Montuenga. The participants then faced the theoreticaltest , composed of 150 questions organized in two parts. All the questions refer to Biology contents taught at secondary school and in the subjects of high school diploma in the subjects of Biochemistry , Evolution and Biodiversity, Cytology, Histology, Physiology and Anatomy Plant and Animal, Reproduction, Genetics, Microbiology and Immunity and Ecology.
On Saturday will take place the test internshipThe experimental test, which consists of 4 tests of laboratory of 60 minutes each, where the skill of the students in the handling of the material and the simple techniques of laboratory, as well as their capacity of observation, diagnosis and interpretation, will be evaluated.
Those in charge of correcting the tests, as the students perform them, are 32 delegates of the Spanish Olympiad, all of them teachers. Also attending the meeting are accompanying teachers, ex-Olympic monitors and the OEB's own board .
International Phase in Coventry (Great Britain) and Iberoamerican Phase in PortugalIn addition to the tests, during the development of the Olympiad the students will visit the Natural Park of Bértiz, the Planetarium of Pamplona and will attend a talk at position of the Full Professor of Microbiology and author of the blog microBIO Ignacio López-Goñi.
Finally, on Sunday morning the names of the eight students with the best results will be announced. Four of them will go to the international phase of competition, which this year will be held from July 23 to 30 in Coventry (Great Britain), and the other four will participate in the Ibero-American Olympiad, which will take place in September in Portugal.
