The musical Hielos has won six awards at the 2018 Kino Awards ceremony of the School of Communication of the University of Navarra. Hielos won the Kino Awards for Best Production, Best Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Cinematography, Best Soundtrack and Best Sound. In addition, Lenguaje Barrier won Best Screenplay; Gran Puzzle, Best Editing; Alex Piñeiro received the Kino for Best Performer; and the former student Jordi Gasull received the Honorary Kino. Juan Voltas and Miguel Ángel Iribarren, students of 1st grade of high school diploma of high school El Redín, were awarded the award Kino Novel.
The Kino Awards are awards created by the School of Communication in 1996, coinciding with the graduation of the first promotion of Audiovisual Communication, in order to recognize the creative, artistic and technical achievements of short fiction films made by students in the last year of degree program. The jury of the 2018 Kino Awards was formed by six professionals: Nekane Echarte, Maider Oleaga, Jorge Begega, Alicia Núñez, Álvaro Ron and Alejandro Pardo.
Alejandro Pardo, who as a professor at School was one of the great promoters of these awards, recalled that "the word Kino seemed very appropriate because at Spanish it sounds like a proper name, like other major film awards (the Oscars, the Goya, the César, etc.); and it also means 'cinema' in German or Russian". The design of the sculpture is the work of the artist Carlos Ciriza.
