A print inspired by the city of Barcelona

Thirteen students from Guatemala participate in the Summer design Program organized by the University's School of Architecture

Thirteen students of design of Fashion of the Universidad del Istmo (UNIS), Guatemala, accompanied by Professor Stephanie Bendfeldt Quezada, have participated in the first edition of the Summer Course of design organized by the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra and coordinated by Professor Juan Luis Roquete.

The central project of the course revolved around the creation of a print inspired by the city of Barcelona. During the first week of the course, which took place in the Catalan capital, the students were given nine themes on which they had to take 9 photographs of each, which they would then use in Pamplona during the classes with British fashion designer Kate Mawby, y Mª Luisa Santos, Consultant and Director of Web Projects, who guided the students with regard to the design Graphic and design Digital of the exercise.

As part of the program, they visited monuments such as the Cathedral of Barcelona, Park Güell or the Mies Pavilion; several companies of design fashion and museums, such as the Balenciaga Museum in San Sebastian; the Guggenheim in Bilbao or the Museo del Traje in Madrid.

 

During their stay in Pamplona, in the workshops of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra, the students worked on the design of the print that they transformed into patron saint, and "they worked on how to apply it in the design of a complete outfit on a small wooden mannequin. And then they made one of their garments on a real scale, using printed paper, and managed to dress six mannequins," explains Mª Luisa Santos in her blog.

The summer course of design, which took place from May 21 to June 4, is aimed at students and professionals of design as well as the general public and revolves around the introduction and knowledge of the Spanishdesign from the monuments, companies and associations of the world of design, focusing especially on the fashion design .
