The School of Sciences announces the "Science Internship Program" scholarships for international internships.

Five grants worth 1,000 euros each will be awarded to students of the Degrees in Biochemistry , Biology, Chemistry or the double Degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry

The School of Sciences of the University of Navarra has announced the second edition of the scholarship program"Science Internship Program" (SIP) aimed at students of the Degrees in Biochemistry , Biology, Chemistry or the double Degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry who wish to carry out international internships during the summer of 2015. In total, 5 grants of 1,000 euros each will be awarded as travel allowance.

To apply for one of these scholarships it is only necessary to have an offer internship in a foreign business, research center or university, not to have enjoyed one of them previously, to have passed at least 120 ECTS credit at the end of the call in December 2014 and to prove a level of English or language of the country of stay B2 or its equivalent.

First edition, great projects

In the first edition of the SIP, one of the grants was awarded to Joan Puig (Chemistry) who did his internship at King's College London, where he participated in a project of research in the laboratory of pharmaceutical biophysics.

Leire Quintana Prat (Biochemistry ) stayed at the Max Planck Institute for Heart and Lung Disease, where she "learned techniques she did not know, working on assays with a serine protease".

Likewise, Marina Bárcena (Biochemistry ) traveled to the Gregor Mendel Institute in Vienna where she worked "a lot and very hard", but she was very satisfied "since my project was very interesting, we created a Library Services of clones of selected genes of the fungus Ustilago maydis". Finally, Ramón Hernández Martín (Biology) had the opportunity to do research at the James Hutton Institute.

 
Candidate selection and more information

The selection of candidates for the program will be made based primarily on the academic transcript . The level of language, the formative capacity of the internship and the international recognition of the research center, business or university will also be taken into account. Finally, the deadline to register is March 30. And the resolution will be notified to the beneficiaries in mid-June.
