El Rapto del Periodismo, a new book by Pedro Lozano Bartolozzi, Professor Emeritus of the University of Navarra, was presented this morning at School de Comunicación. The book, which analyzes the current communication phenomenon, offers various solutions and challenges for the reorientation of the journalistic work of the media.

The event was also attended by Full Professor Manuel Martín Algarra, Associate Dean of School, who stressed that "it is a book that sheds light so that journalism does not forget the important public function that corresponds to it".

For his part, the author Pedro Lozano Bartolozzi stated that it is a work born as a double reflection, "the deconstruction of the communicative system and the new information models, but always focused from the perspective of a positive communicative challenge in the face of risks that are not new".

The book analyzes aspects such as the phenomenon of the Internet Tsunami, war information as a spectacle, the opacity of messages and the simulacrum of virtual reality, current communication legislation and organizations and their relationship with public opinion, issues that "are of interest not only to communicators but also to the general public".

He also affirmed that "the first to kidnap journalism were the journalists, followed by the media", at the same time as he expressed that "we cannot throw in the towel in the face of this". In this sense, the author emphasizes that the future of the media in the ocean of social networks emerges as "the great ethical and professional challenge, which radically affects democracy and social coexistence itself".

Pedro Lozano Bartolozzi, Professor Emeritus of the School of Communication, president of the Society of Historical programs of study of Navarra (SEHN) and journalist, is the author of 27 books between academic and literary works. El Rapto del Periodismo(The Rapture of Journalism), which includes a chapter in homage to Esteban López-Escobar, also Professor Emeritus of the School de Comunicación, and Pedro Lozano's last lecture as a university professor, has been published by Eunsa in its collection Astrolabio de Temas de Actualidad (Astrolabio de Temas de Actualidad).
