E-MENU at the Bordeaux Nutrition & Neuroscience Meeting
Irene Leon (E-MENU 2016-17) recounts her experience at the meeting on Nutrition and Neurosciences attended by the students of the Master's Degree
Among the international events attended by the students of the EuropeanMaster's Degree in Food, Nutrition and Metabolism (E-MENU) of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition, the Bordeaux Nutrition & Neuroscience Meeting stands out, which brought students and experts from different European centers around Nutrition and Neuroscience to the French city.
Irene León, one of the attendees, reports that meeting was consistent with the theme that had been previously raised at lecture in London. "In both events, food as a factor involved in mental health was addressed, as well as its implications on brain structure," she points out.
According to the future graduate of Master's Degree E-MENU, the workshop in Bordeaux was not very extensive "but it did provide very condensed information and the subject matter was dealt with from different approaches, allowing us to delve deeper into the relationship between cognition and nutrition". Irene also points out that although the topic was very complex, it was explained in a very interesting way: "I was struck by the fact that the programs of study presented at the workshop came from different universities, including our own, which allowed us to learn about the lines of research developed in other centers".
Overall, the future expert in Nutrition and Metabolism considers that the activities of Master's Degree are very enriching: "For me it is essential to attend to all of them, as they help you understand the latest approaches, see how professionals are updated and, as they are also taught in English, they improve scientific vocabulary. Overall, I would say that activities like these bring you closer to the world of research in Nutrition and represent an incentive for people who, as in my case, want to continue along this line with a doctorate".
