Domingo Ramos-Lisson Professor Emeritus of the School of Theology of the University of Navarra, has published The Faith of the First Christians. This is the twentieth degree scroll of the collection 'Persona y Cultura' published by publishing house EUNSA.
Throughout 25 sections and an epilogue, the author provides testimonies of the life of the first believers of the Gospel, who lived from the first century until the persecution of Diocletian, at the beginning of the fourth century.
Professor Ramos-Lisson sample how these early Christians lived their faith in an environment of hostility towards Christianity, focusing on aspects such as marriage, family, virgins, widows, prayer, almsgiving....It also explains other questions such as the origin of the Roman emperors' intolerance towards Christianity, why the martyrs were so well regarded in the early Christian communities, how they celebrated the sacraments of Christian initiation or on what their hope in eternal life was based.
Domingo Ramos-Lisson is Full Professor (emeritus) of Patrology and Church History (Ancient Ages) at the School of Theology of the University of Navarra. His most recent books are Compendium of Ancient Church History (2009) y Writings on Virginity of St. Ambrose of Milan (2011).
