Two professors are awarded the award Rey Jaime I of research medical and Economics
They are Dr. Jesús San Miguel, director of Clinical and Translational Medicine, and economist Francesc Xavier Vives of IESE Business School.
award Dr. Jesús San Miguel, director of Clinical and Translational Medicine at the University of Navarra, and IESE professor Francesc Xavier Vives have received the2013 King Jaime I award, in the modalities of research and Economics, respectively. Princess Letizia presented them with the award.
The jury, which included 20 Nobel laureates, recognized one of the most prestigious European hematologists; and the work on the theory of industrial organization and finance and its regulation, by Professor Vives.
Jesús San Miguel, Full Professor of Hematology, is the author of more than 600 articles in international journals and as researcher has participated in 60 projects research. His three main areas of research are multiple myeloma, leukemia biology and its prognostic implications, and minimal residual disease.
Professor Xavier Vives is one of the Spanish economists with the greatest international presence, projection and experience, and has been recognized with numerous professional awards for his informative work and his areas of work, especially those related to the effects on the functioning of markets and institutions.
During the ceremony of award, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, the awards for Basic research were also presented to Manel Esteller; for Environmental Protection, to Xavier Querol; for New Technologies, to Antonio González; and for Entrepreneurs, to Pedro Espinosa.
