Generative Artificial Intelligence for BBVA executives
The Institute of Science of the data and Artificial Intelligence (DATAI) has launched a specialized course for the use of generative AI, aimed at BBVA managers.
The Institute of Science of the data and Artificial Intelligence (DATAI), together with BBVA, have launched a program of training in generative artificial intelligence (GenAI), for which 150 bank managers have already received training for its use and application. "GenAI is an AI subject that is capable of creating new data based on the previous examples, in order to improve productivity and optimize their daily work," explains Jesús López Fidalgo, director of DATAI.
The antecedent of this project is an agreement of partnership that was signed between both institutions in 2020, which has allowed to carry out different projects. On the one hand, some BBVA employees have been able to receive training in the science of data through the Master's Degree Big Data Sciencewhich is taught at campus in Madrid. A partnership has also been generated to develop industrial doctorate programs at the University, at partnership with BBVA; a project on AI manager, and a certification course for Scientists at data, aimed at professionals with experience in the use of AI.
As a result of these projects, BBVA asked DATAI to train its managers in the use of generative AI applications. "Specifically, they are interested in learning chatbot (an AI-based software to maintain an automatic conversation with the Username), which can help them in an important part of their daily work and dedication," says Jesús López Fidalgo. "The application of these tools in their business can range from performing simpler or routine tasks to using them to optimize more complex processes."
"It is one thing if you have an AI licence at home and use it to summarize texts or do some enquiry, and another to apply GenAI to change the way of working in a business like BBVA", says Iván Cordón, director Innovation of DATAI. The content of these courses is based, first of all, on highlighting the relevance and importance of this technology and how it has been the birth and development of AI until today. In addition to the theoretical training , "we try that the practical cases serve to understand the value of GenAI. In the end, managers are the ones who make decisions, and instilling this in them means that they can pass it on to their employees".

design of strategic plans and identify trends
After a thorough introduction to generative AI and its uses, participants explore its real impact on the management enterprise and, through case studies, learn how to apply this technology from the automation of routine tasks to the optimization of complex processes. This is where tools such as ChatGPT are essential to increase efficiency in the management of information.
Some of the applications that GenAI can have for managers are, for example, the design of strategic plans, helping to process and assimilate information before a presentation, or even predict what the future trends are in that sector. "It also includes a more creative part and another part of analytics from data. With all of this, we want managers to understand and feel the technology, and at the end of the day go home with the feeling of saying, 'This is for me financial aid. I have to talk to my team and encourage them to use this,'" says Iván.
The case of partnership with BBVA executives is a first step, and will be extended to other employees of business. It is also expected that little by little more institutions that are interested in learning more about the potential of GenAI and how it can help them in their daily work will join. "I consider that we have arrived at the right time. This is all very new, and there is still very little training. We have put our heads together and, thanks to this, we have started to train people," concludes Jesús López Fidalgo.
