Carlos Centeno and Jokin de Irala participate in the XXI General Assembly of the Pontifical Academy pro Vita

These ICS researchers and professors of the School of Medicine participated in the meeting held in Rome, which had as its theme 'attendance the elderly and palliative care'.

Two researchers from the University of Navarra participated in the XXI General Assembly of the Pontificia XXI General Assembly of the Pontifical Academy pro Vitawhich took place in Rome from March 4 to 7, 2015 under the theme 'attendance the elderly and palliative care'. These are Carlos Centeno, researcher principal of the ATLANTES Program of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS), director of the Palliative Care Unit of the Clinic and Professor of Medicine; and Jokin de Irala, researcher principal of the project 'Education of Human Affectivity and Sexuality' and Full Professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health.

The meeting, chaired by Msgr. Ignacio Carrasco de Paula, president of the dicastery, addressed specific aspects such as the medical care of the elderly with chronic degenerative diseases or the ethical guidelines for a good accompaniment of the elderly near death.

On March 6, a workshop open to the public was held that addressed the issue from different perspectives: theological-philosophical, ethical and medical-health, cultural and social. Dr. Centeno gave one of the lectures, entitled 'Advance treatment planning'. It was part of the second session, dedicated to anthropological ethical perspectives.

Dr. Centeno was the only Spanish speaker at the workshop, speaker , which was also attended by other leading experts from the USA, Argentina, Italy, France, Canada, Belgium, Brazil and India.
