More than 1,500 people attended the Eucharistic celebration yesterday at sports center of the University of Navarre on the feast of St. Josemaría Escrivá, founder of Opus Dei and of the University. Numerous people from the University, professors, students and employees, as well as citizens of Pamplona, attended.

The Vicar of Opus Dei in Navarra, Rafael Salvador, presided at the concelebration of the Eucharist with the priests Juan Chapa, Dean of the School of Theology; Antonio Viana, Dean of the School of Canon Law; Jesús Colomo, chaplain of the Clínica Universidad de Navarra and Miguel Pérez de Laborda, chaplain of the School of Sciences.

In his homily, the Vicar recalled that "we are at the midpoint of the Year of Mercy" convoked by Pope Francis and " ordinary life is the place of our Christian existence, the sphere where the Mercy of God reaches us, transforms us and makes us merciful. There too, in everyday life, the credibility of the Church passes through the path of merciful and compassionate love".

He also linked the work with mercy and recalled the need for it to be "carried out with skilland developed in a spirit of service, and imbued with cordiality. He concluded by pointing out that the celebration of the Solemnity of St. Josemaría was "a good day to place under his intercession the exciting and demanding task of the daily work in the university that he founded, a work that we want to carry out with an eagerness to serve.

The Agrupación Coral Laus in Voce, formed by mothers and fathers of high school Miravalles-El Redín, directed by Carlos Andrés Sánchez, participated in the celebration.
