An expert from the University of Ottawa gives a course on the clinical decision-making process in advanced disease.

What should the physician's actions be in the last moments of life, the patient's dignity, pain or the complicated decisions that these issues raise for health professionals are some of the topics that will be addressed in the international course "Decision-Making at the end of life " given by Dr. José Pereira of the University of Ottawa. The program will take place from June 8 to 13 at the University of Navarra Museum and the Castaños building in Science. Those interested may obtain 3 ECTS credit for their participation. The course includes an introduction through the arts to the disease, what is society's perception of death or ethical challenges such as pain, the symptoms of the patient who is about to die and other issues such as the dignity of the patient, palliative sedation or the implications of legalizing euthanasia. All this through a methodology internship that includes the projection of real cases.
In addition to Dr. Pereira, sessions will be given by Professors Carlos Centeno, José Miguel Carrasco and Nunciata Comoretto, all of them researchers of the ATLANTES program of the University of Navarra and experts in Palliative Medicine.
