Ana Isabel Camacho received the award for her work "Nanoparticle vaccine against Shigella flexneri", carried out jointly with the department de Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology

Ana Isabel Camacho Peiro, researcher at department of Microbiology of the University of Navarra, has received the award to the Young Researchers at the 3rd Pharmaceutical Sciences Fair and Exhibition, held in Prague, Czech Republic, between June 13 and 17, 2011.

Its work, graduate "Nanoparticle vaccine against Shigella flexneri", is directed by professors Carlos Gamazo (department of Microbiology) and Juan Manuel Irache (department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology). In it, the pharmaceutical company is researching the development of an effective vaccine against Shigella flexneri, "the main agent causing endemic Shigellosis, manager of more than one million deaths per year", explains Ana Camacho.

More than 100 papers from centers all over the world competed in the competition . According to Juliana de Souza, co-author of work, "this award is especially important because it is recognition of the work teamwork between different Departments".
