The Science Museum of the University of Navarra has carried out more than 80 activities during the past academic year and now presents a video that collects the main actions developed. Among the most outstanding is "Science on Wheels", an activity that consists of taking science directly to the classroom. This year, 134 sessions of scientific knowledge dissemination have been given in schools throughout Spain, reaching 4,053 schoolchildren.

"In a year marked by the limitations of the pandemic, we have adapted to be close to society, organizing activities of interest to all audiences. We have told science stories through film and augmented reality, on social networks, and we have also traveled to schools conducting experiments and explaining science," notes Ignacio López-Goñi, director of the Science Museum.

The Museum has brought science to the big screen. In the second edition of #LabMeCrazy! Science Film Festival, competition international science film festival held last February, 1,114 productions from 90 countries participated. The festival continued its activity throughout the year with screenings and debates open to all citizens that have taken place at the University, a summer course on film and science that was held in Tudela, and the tour of scientific documentaries, organized in partnership with the Government of Navarra, which has visited Viana, Estella, Falces and is scheduled to be present in the coming months in Mendavia, Tafalla, Ribaforada and San Adrián.

Social networks have been a great ally for science communication this year. Round tables, conferences, and other informative activities have been carried out through the Science Museum's YouTube channel, with a reach of more than 32,000 users. The videos of the series "Women in Science", the conferences of the cycle "The Science Museum Explains", the researchers' night, the Science and Technology Weeks, or online contests such as "Science from your home" are some of the initiatives that have been carried out through the networks.

The Science Museum has also promoted events to raise public awareness of the importance of caring for the natural environment and citizen science activities such as, for example, participation in the Flora and Fauna Biomarathon, the Spanish Flora Biomarathon, and World Environment Day. The "Cienceando" camps on Chemistry and nature have filled the university's campus during the summer mornings, with more than 300 children.

A museum for society

The Science Museum continues to establish collaborations with different public and private institutions for the development of its outreach and science communication activities. Last June, the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) granted an subsidy of 25,000 euros for the development of some of its activities. Some of its projects are carried out with the partnership of the Ministry of Science and Innovation, Government of Navarra, Pamplona City Council, Laboral Kutxa, Banco Sabadell Foundation, and Alphabet.
