Professor Carlos Mata, elected corresponding professor in Spain of the Bolivian Academy of the language

The appointment recognizes GRISO's work in the field of Hispanic programs of study in Bolivia.

Carlos Mata Induráin, from Pamplona, researcher and secretary of the group de research Siglo de Oro (GRISO) of the University of Navarra, has been elected as a corresponding member in Spain of the Bolivian Academy of the Spanish language. Bolivian Academy of the language. The Academy thus recognizes his "linguistic knowledge and literary merits", among which stand out numerous publications on Cervantes, Calderón de la Barca or Lope de Vega, works of the Spanish Golden Age or his attention to the literature of the Spanish-American sphere in the viceregal period.

Carlos Mata has been visiting professor at the University of Piura (Peru) and at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He is also secretary of the Instituto de programs of study Auriseculares (IDEA), based in Madrid and New York. In addition to research on the Golden Age, he has focused on modern and contemporary Spanish literature (romantic historical novels, novels of the Civil War, Spanish short stories of the 20th century...) and the literary history of Navarre.

His publications include a guide de lectura del "Quijote" ( 2006), in partnership with Mariela Insúa, his edition of La gitanilla and Rinconete y Cortadillo ( 2010) or the volumes he coordinated Recreaciones teatrales y alegorías cervantinas ( 2012) and Recreaciones quijotescas y cervantinas en la narrativa (2013).

Cultural relations with Bolivian institutions

The group of research Siglo de Oro (GRISO) of the University of Navarra maintains an extensive network of relationships with various educational and cultural institutions in Bolivia. This appointment is in addition to those of Ignacio Arellano and Andrés Eichmann, director and researcher associate of the GRISO respectively, who were also named corresponding members of the Bolivian Academy of the language in 2011, in recognition of their promotion of the dissemination of the Hispanic programs of study in Bolivia and the enhancement of the Bolivian cultural heritage.
