The School of Theology celebrates the End of Year Ceremony for 52 new graduates degree program
Of these, 23 are part of the L promotion of licentiate degree in Theology and 29 of the LII promotion of high school program in Theology.
The School of Theology of the University of Navarra celebrated on the 26th the End of Year Ceremony degree program of 52 students, of which 23 are part of the L promotion of licentiate degree in Theology and 29 belong to the LII promotion of high school program in Theology.
The workshop began with a Holy Mass celebrated at the chapel of the School of Communication. This was followed by the academic ceremony at the classroom Magna of the building of the Schools Eclesiasticas, presided over by Juan Chapa, Dean of the School, and by Professor Juan Antonio Gil Tamayo, sponsor of the graduating class.
At the opening speech , Rafael de Freitas, delegate of the licentiate degree in Theology, expressed his gratitude to those who have accompanied them throughout these years: "I have the greatest feelings of gratitude to the professors. There is nothing more exciting and grandiose for which it is worth the effort of our poor intelligence. The professor of Theology, as well as transmitting his knowledge, also makes an act of humility, of faith, in the revealed truth and they have guided us along those same paths". He also alluded with special affection to the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the School of Theology. For his part, Jesús Humberto Pérez, delegate of the high school program in Theology, recalled anecdotes lived with his companions and professors during this time and assured that "the value of a stay depends to a great extent on the lessons learned. Hence, our time at School can be evaluated by the knowledge that we have acquired, not only conceptually, but above all humanly".
class During the ceremony, after dedicating words of gratitude to the new graduates, the sponsor of the graduating class gave a master class on the importance of the study of the Fathers of the Church in Theology, in which he affirmed that "they were the first response in the Church to the fullness of the revelation of God in Christ, his Word, and it is of such importance that it has become part of the same divine Word. They are not mere authors in Christianity, they have been shapers of the Christian faith, essential teachers of the exegesis of the Holy Scriptures; initiators of theological science and its method; authors of the Liturgy; teachers of deep spirituality... It is not possible to carry out an advance and renewal in the theological programs of study overlooking the Fathers of the Church".
For his part, the Dean of the School pointed out in his speech that "what they have received in these years is much more than a degree scroll. What should remind them is the intense and broad theological training that they have been given in order to be able to better develop a work of service to the Church and society in the places from which they come and where they now return. It should be a testimony of the people with whom they studied and in some cases lived more intensely and from whom they learned so many things. It should evoke in them what the professors and employees of School have wanted to transmit to them during these years: that study is fundamental, but that it must be an integral part of a more global learning process, which implies being open to those around us in order to serve them better".
