The publishing house RIALP will publish in February 2025 the book "Párrocos, obispos y Opus Dei. Historia y entorno de la Sociedad sacerdotal de la Santa Cruz en España, 1928-1965", written by Santiago Martínez Sánchez. This work delves into the relationship between Opus Dei and diocesan priests since 1952, when the Holy See approved their association. The author explores the interest of popes, bishops and priests in the holiness and associationism of the clergy until the Second Vatican Council, highlighting the support that Opus Dei provided through the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross.

Santiago Martínez Sánchez, professor of history at the University of Navarra and director of the Center of programs of study Josemaría Escrivá, offers a detailed analysis of the motivations of the founder of Opus Dei to collaborate with the diocesan clergy, as well as who his closest collaborators were. The author also discusses the reception and rejection that the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross had among Spanish priests and bishops, and how this relationship influenced their dioceses between 1952 and 1965.
