Historian Santiago Martínez, director of the Center for the programs of study Josemaría Escrivá, presented in Seville and Jaén his most recent research: Párrocos, obispos y Opus Dei. Historia y entorno de la Sociedad Sacerdotal de la Santa Cruz en España (1928-1965), published by Ediciones Rialp.

The work offers a detailed and documented look at the Priestly Society of the Holy Cross, an ecclesial reality linked to Opus Dei that, from its beginnings, sought to offer spiritual and human support to diocesan priests.

Two presentations were held in Seville. The first took place at the San Isidoro School of Theology and was attended by Professor José Leonardo Ruiz Sánchez, Full Professor of Contemporary History at the University of Seville. The second was held at the Valentín de Madariaga Foundation, in the framework a colloquium with Luis Fontán, director of the Opus Dei Communications Office in the Delegation of Western Andalusia and Extremadura.

Subsequently, the author moved to Jaén, where he presented his work in the old Magisterio building of the University of Jaén. The dean-president of the cathedrals of Jaén and Baeza, Francisco Juan Martínez Rojas, participated in this event.

During the presentations, not only the key points of the book were discussed, but there was also space for questions from the audience, which allowed for a deeper understanding of topics such as the experience of the diocesan priesthood, fraternity among clergy and the ecclesial context of the 20th century in Spain.

Párrocos, obispos y Opus Dei is presented as a reference letter book for those who wish to better understand the spiritual and pastoral dynamics of the secular clergy in contemporary Spain, as well as the contribution of new ecclesial realities to its development.
