The School of Pharmacy counts with five new professorships

They belong to the Departments of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology, Food Science and Physiology and Pharmacology and Toxicology

The University of Navarra has appointed five new professors to the School Pharmacy faculty, bringing the total number of professors with this academic category to 16 within the faculty of the School. They are María Javier Ramírez, from department of Pharmacology and Toxicology; Amelia Martí del Moral and María Jesús Moreno, from Food Science and Physiology; and José Ignacio Fernández de Trocóniz and María Blanco, from Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology.

Professor Ramirez combines teaching and research in Alzheimer's disease. She is currently vice dean of research and faculty of the School of Pharmacy. She has supervised about thirty research works, thesis and Master's Degree final projects, as well as participating in several national and international research projects. She is the author of more than 70 publications.

At area of Food Science and Physiology, Professor Martí specializes in childhood obesity, being director of the group of the Navarre Study of Childhood Obesity (GENOI), board member of Food of the high school Official Pharmacists of Navarra and member of the committee Scientific of the Spanish Agency of Consumption, Food Safety and Nutrition. In 2007, she received the Silver Medal of the British Nutrition Society. She has directed several doctoral thesis and final projects Master's Degree and is the author of more than 186 scientific publications.

Professor Moreno carries out her activity professor and research at research center in Nutrition, focusing on obesity and metabolic syndrome. She has participated in more than 20 projects at research, and has published more than 100 articles in scientific journals and 17 book chapters.

Professors Fernández and Blanco belong to department of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Technology. The first one develops his research in the field of computational modeling applied to pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and systems biology. He is constantly contact with the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry for the development of new therapeutic strategies and their individualization in the patient.

Professor Blanco focuses her research in the field of nanomedicine and controlled drug delivery systems. She is currently in charge of a project of research specific in childhood cancer, endowed with 150,000 euros by the association Española Contra el Cáncer. She is the author of more than 100 scientific articles and book chapters, 2 editorials and 5 patents.
