Some thirty researchers from 10 national and international institutions have participated in the first meeting of PLEXUS, one of the research projects granted to the University of Navarra by the European Union. Coordinated by the School of Philosophy and Letters of the academic center, it has received funding of 625,000 euros for the study and knowledge dissemination of philosophical logic. Thus, PLEXUS will investigate for 4 years the Substructural Logics from three dimensions: philosophical, logical-mathematical and experimental. With an interdisciplinary approach , it will be structured around three areas: Philosohpical Foundations, Logic and Metainferences Inventory and Prover.

Through the scientific partnership and the exchange of researchers among the participating institutions, the project aims to consolidate a worldwide network that will allow the flow of new ideas and techniques, as well as the training of young researchers in this field. As pointed out by Pablo Cobreros, Full Professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science and coordinator of PLEXUS, "the main contribution of this project to society will be the preparation of excellent scientists who, in the future, will be able to educate others and develop their own projects. We will also carry out actions of knowledge dissemination of Logic that will reach a very wide audience and thus contribute to make visible the beauty, plurality and creativity of its study".

For his part, Eduardo Alejandro Barrio, from committee Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET, Argentina) and researcher of project, pointed out the importance of PLEXUS in consolidating the international links existing at area Logic. "Cooperation between groups of research from different countries is an essential value that transcends even the subject matter we address," he said. A statement shared by Carlo Nicolai, researcher of King's College London, another participating institution: "PLEXUS will be fundamental to establish or strengthen links, contributing to create a new international community of excellent researchers. It should be noted that the scientific and networking activities that will take place around project will be a unique opportunity for young researchers".

Along with the University of Navarra, nine institutions from eight countries will participate in the project : CONICET/ Buenos Aires Logic Group (Argentina); Monash University (Australia); École Normale Supérieure (France); the universities of Cagliari and Turin (Italy); the University of Amsterdam (Netherlands); the University of Lisbon (Portugal); King's College London (United Kingdom); and The Graduate Centre, CUNY (United States).
