The University will end the course for students at Degree with online classes and non-face-to-face exams.

The institution has decided not to resume teaching to avoid student travel due to the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic.

The University of Navarra has decided to end this academic year for the students of Degree with online classes and non-face-to-face exams. In a letter sent to students and employees, President Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero has announced that the online mode will also be applied, with the appropriate adaptations, to other training activities such as external and curricular internships, final projects Degree, final projects Master's Degree..., etc.

The University wants to ensure the safety of students and postpone travel due to the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic. "We also think it is important to warn families in advance to avoid uncertainties and, as far as possible, expenses," stressed President, after listening to the deans and student representatives. 25% of the University's students are international students. 

In addition, from the center educational has valued the good functioning of the tools for the teaching on line. "In these weeks we have seen that the classes are developing satisfactorily. We think that the remaining classes can be taught, ensuring that the students make good use of them", explained Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero. 

As a result, on-site classes will not resume and students at Degree will not return to campus on April 20 as scheduled.

Alfonso Sánchez-Tabernero had words of gratitude for the teachers and professionals whose efforts are ensuring that the students complete the course in accordance with the academic plan: "We have seen in recent days that for us teaching is above all personalized and we do everything in our power to exercise it both in person and online".

The teaching on line in figures

It has been more than two weeks since the University closed the buildings on its campus but the activity professor has continued thanks to the use of tools and new technologies.

From the very first moment, the Quality and Innovation and IT Services departments worked to ensure that the professor activity was not affected and made every effort to ensure that professors and students could continue working through their computers. Sometimes live -through Google meet or Zoom-, sometimes recorded -with Panopto-, sometimes publishing notes and recommended readings -through the ADI virtual classroom -.

Since then, 36 sessions of training have been organized in tools such as videoconferences, forums and tutorials, in which 366 people have participated. Another 10 tutorials have been held and urls of 223 subjects have been activated, in addition, another 600 related queries have been attended.

Communication with the 24 coordinators of programs of study in the different campus has been constant, so that the students were informed at all times of how their teaching was going to be developed.

Tu&Co-Mentors, a direct line to students

In these circumstances of confinement, the work of the mentors has been greatly enhanced, who solve "face to face" personal queries of each student, with the goal to support them in their academic, professional and personal concerns. Tu&Co-Mentores, a development program of transversal competencies based on mentoring, has had 308 users, an increase of 156%, and 533 sessions.

On the other hand, according to data provided by IT Services , more than 5,000 video calls have been made through Google Meet and 200 sessions, with almost 4,000 participants, through Zoom. In Panopto there have been 25,846 views and downloads, and 8,601 users, with more than 230,884 minutes of video delivered (3848 hours).
