From Madrid to New York with Cuatrecasas
Andrea Tellería (ISSA '15) has been working at Cuatrecasas' New York office (USA) since April this year.
Andrea Tellería 's (ISSA '15) professional career has always been linked to a well-known law firm. Since January 2015, she has worked at Cuatrecasas, first at department Litigation, as an intern; later, at department at General Administration; and since April this year she has been working as a Management Assistant, within a temporary programme of training of work, in the office that business has in New York (United States): "It had always been in my mind to go abroad again. When a temporary vacancy was advertised internally for the position of Management Assistant in the New York office, I didn't hesitate for a second to apply and my application was considered among others. I was looking for new challenges, I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and to continue my education.
Andrea's tasks at position are mainly focused on supporting the international management of the firm from the New York office, participating in the work of research to promote business development, collaborating with the organisation of events and carrying out Office Manager tasks. He says that what excites him most about this work is "the professional growth and staff that this experience entails and being able to face a challenge which is somewhat paradoxical, as this opportunity allows me to have a more global vision of the business, but from the perspective of a smaller office". As he explains, the subjects taught at ISSA - School of Management Assistants are very varied in content, "which makes it possible to understand any subject from business and facilitates adaptation. In my case in particular, the knowledge acquired in Economics, Law, speech and Languages, together with the values instilled by the University, have undoubtedly been my base". Although she misses "the quality of life we have in Spain, as well as my family and friends, of course", she says that living in the world's capital "means being surprised by new places every day and mixing with different cultures, which makes it really interesting and unpredictable".
Andrea belongs to one of the last graduating classes of ISSA - School of Management Assistants students who studied their programs of study at the old San Sebastian campus, and says that she has fond memories of her time at university: "The incredible views of the bay of La Concha, the close attention of the faculty and, above all, sharing with my friends, whom I still have". That's why she encourages the students who will start the Degree in Management Assistant next year and those who are still studying at the University "to take advantage of all the opportunities that come their way, both in the degree program and in the university environment, because everything adds up". To those in their fourth year who have just finished their academic training and are about to enter the job market, he suggests "to think about what your interests and dreams are, set a goal and look for the best way to achieve it. And above all, they should always recycle themselves and continue training.
