The study is part of a agreement signed by the two institutions to cooperate in the research on international migration.
The University of Navarra and the University of Princeton will collaborate in a research on the phenomenon of Moroccan emigration to Spain and the U.S. This initiative, entitled "Moroccan Migration Project", is part of a agreement signed by the two institutions to cooperate in the study of international migration.
This agreement aims to promote the development of joint research and scientific events and the exchange of professors between both centers. In addition, it raises a new horizon of programs of study compared between Spain and the U.S. and allows to analyze the phenomenon of immigration as a challenge and opportunity, both for new citizens and for the host societies.
"So far, two joint seminars have been held and a third meeting is planned for spring 2012," says Juan José Pons, professor at department of History, Art and Geography at the University of Navarra and member of project.
In addition to him, among the main promoters of this initiative is Professor Douglas Massey, director of the Office of Population Research at Princeton University and president of the American Academy of Political and Social Science. Also participating are Professor Magaly Sanchez, of Princeton University, and Professors Dolores Lopez and Carolina Montoro, of the University of Navarra.
