The Science Museum of the University of Navarra has developed a new virtual reality activity to teach science to society in a different way. Using 3D reality glasses, users can take a guided tour of a science museum of the future visit .

"We want the Science Museum to be a museum of the 21st century. This virtual reality activity is a prototype that will allow visitors to experience a unique sensation: from walking surrounded by elephants, to viewing a collection of tropical butterflies, to getting close to the time of the dinosaurs", says Ignacio López-Goñi, director of the Science Museum of the University of Navarra.

This virtual museum is organized into four didactic rooms: "Biodiversity", where visitors will learn about the relationship between a butterfly and a caterpillar, and enjoy a collection of butterflies with striking wings, covered with brightly colored scales, patterns and drawings that challenge the imagination; "Evolution", where we will discover a form of co-evolution, mimicry, and have the opportunity to discover where some animals are hiding; "History of life", where we will travel back to the time when dinosaurs ruled the Earth and we will be able to see Tyrannosaurus rex or velociraptors up close; and "Large ecosystems", where we can enter the African savannah, and learn about the biology of zebras, antelopes, rhinoceroses and giraffes, among others.

This project, which has been developed in partnership with business Yunity 360 and sponsored by Acunsa, is a way to disseminate the scientific knowledge through new technologies. "With these 3D glasses we want to teach science in a different way. It is not a toy, it has a purpose professor and it is a new way of learning. The visit combines information panels, videos, photographs, animations and different effects that are only possible thanks to 3D technology," adds López-Goñi.

The Science Museum of the University of Navarra offers this activity, a pioneer in our community, during Science Week: from November 4 to 16, from Monday to Friday at 7:00 pm and on Saturdays November 9 and 16 at 12:00 pm. The 3D guided tour visit will be available in groups of 15 people. To register, please contact museociencias@unav.es by e-mail.

The Science Museum of the University of Navarra is a space educational, knowledge dissemination of science and learning about the conservation of nature, the defense of biodiversity and the value of science in the service of nature and human beings.
