Claudia Mata -a graduate in Pharmacy from the University of Salamanca and 2nd year of the Master's Degree in design Galenic and Manufacturing in the Pharmaceutical Industry (MDGFI) at the University of Navarra- has reached the halfway point of her paid internship at laboratory GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), at its headquarters in Aranda de Duero (Burgos), with the impression that despite the frenetic work "the beginnings in the world of the pharmaceutical industry are being very rewarding".

Claudia finished the theoretical training internship and the work end of Master's Degree and in September she started her paid internship at this international laboratory : "Joining the frenetic pace of a production department has been a real challenge challenge. I consider the knowledge and skills acquired during my stay in Pamplona and the financial aid of my colleagues, who have always made time to take care of my learning, to be the key to success", says Claudia.

About the specific knowledge she has been acquiring during these months, Claudia underlines that she is increasing her knowledge about the tablet production process" and learning to recognize the most critical process parameters in manufacturing, as well as the methodologies of work that allow a profitable production, complying with the highest quality standards", she relates.

GSK: a close business

On the other hand, Claudia highlights the unbeatable attention she is receiving at business: "I must emphasize the closeness and friendliness of the people who work in the factory. They make possible an environment of work ideal for acquiring very valuable professional skills, such as work in a team, the inter-departmental partnership or creativity".

"I can say," Claudia concludes, "that during these 5 months every day has been different, with training in GMPs and safety, improvements in production processes, audits, projects, validations, research of deviations, etc.". "It is very inspiring to discover how so many professionals - experts in different areas - work as a team to ensure the quality and supply of medicines that reach patients", concludes the future postgraduate of the Master's Degree in design Galenic and Manufacturing in the Pharmaceutical Industry of the School of Pharmacy and Nutrition.
