On fire with love for God, for the Church and for all souls, St. Josemaría's words, sure, firm and vigorous, listened to in absolute silence, penetrated and remained engraved in the minds and hearts of everyone. I will not comment here on the great theological and apostolic richness of the content of the homily, something that others have done and will continue to do. I will only say that with it, in those of us who were then at the University, as in those who came later, the conviction grew stronger that, for each one of us and for the service we rendered to society, it was truly important to try, with financial aid of divine grace, that our own life, in all its moments and manifestations, be adjusted as much as possible to the teachings of the Gospel, that we know how to find Jesus Christ in all the great and small things of each day, that we always seek the good of others. Along with this, and even for this very reason, we should try to carry out the functions proper to the University with the best quality that our limitations would allow, putting into play our own professional preparation and criteria, with loyalty to the founding principles and with full freedom and staff responsibility. The Friends of the University also reacted with the desire to improve in their Christian life, and grasped more deeply the elevated sense of their generous cooperation, as "clear testimony of an upright civic conscience, concerned with the temporal common good".

At the beginning, it was not foreseen that I would be in charge of the audio recording of the homily, but I wanted to join the team to ensure that everything was well recorded, together with Juan José García Noblejas. In the end, there were problems with the video recording and only some parts of the mass were preserved, so the audio recording turned out to be a treasure.

Another thing I remember very well from those days was a brief meeting meeting between St. Josemaría and the bullfighters who had taken part in a bullfight organized by the Assembly of Friends. The get-together, in which he was very affectionate, was at the high school Mayor Aralar. I will never forget a nice metaphor he used when he told the bullfighters: "This morning I fought in front of thousands of people dressed in green and gold", referring to the vestments he had worn at Mass. He then presented each one with a medal of Our Lady of Fair Love.

I remember, from the mass at campus, a special atmosphere of joy, with music bands like the one from Lodosa, with nice banners alluding to the mission statement of the University, with a crowd, let's call it that, very devoted to the university work that was beginning to bear abundant fruits in Navarre.

Of course, there were attendees from other Spanish regions and a good international representation, in keeping with the universal spirit of the Navarrensis.

That day is hard to forget for me: the University, decked out and festive, forged an atmosphere and style, which I was able to see as student, and later as a professor and partner professional, and which has been maintained over time. It was a memorable and delightful day.

On October 8, 1967, my husband, accompanied by some of my children, attended Holy Mass at campus at the University of Navarre. In his homily, St. Josemaría repeated thirteen times the expression "My daughters and sons. For him, we were his children; for us, he was our Father. His affection for each of his children was not a theory, but took shape in concrete cases.

As a father he would anticipate what his children might need at any given moment, and he would go to diary with the desire to find time to be with them. So on October 5, 1967, the day of St. Josemaría's arrival in Pamplona, my daughter María de los Ángeles was born. My husband went, as he had done just the year before, to the Aralar to tell St. Josemaría that he would be with them. high school Mayor Aralar to tell St. Josemaría that on that same day, at 12 noon, a baby girl had been born. I wanted to ask him to baptize her.

- Father, I have no father but you. I would ask my father for... What do I know what I would ask him for? A submarine...

And St. Josemaría did not let him continue:

- Rascal, more than rascal! What do you want me to baptize it for you? Well, I'll baptize her for you. Talk to Don Alvaro, to see when it can be, because we're on a tight schedule, and if anyone has any objections, come and tell me.

St. Josemaría was a father who exercised his fatherhood in an overabundant way. He was aware that the thousands of people who listened to him on October 8 on the esplanade of the University's Library Services were, above all, "a great family of God's children in his Holy Church. His words, "the words of a priest" sought nothing more than to help his children to be better children of God".
