Farewell to Professor Miguel Lluch. In memoriam
Miguel Lluch Baixauli (Valencia, September 18, 1959), professor of Church History School of Theology at the University of Navarra, died last Monday in Pamplona due to an unexpected illness. Ordained to the priesthood on August 15, 1987, he was incardinated in
the Prelature of Opus Dei. He was graduate in Geography and History from the University of Alicante and a doctor in Theology from the University of Navarra.
His thesis on the Roman philosopher Boethius received the extraordinary award of doctorate. During the 28 years he worked at the University of Navarra he was chaplain of the School of Philosophy and Letters (1987-2001), Deputy Director of the high school of Anthropology and Ethics (1998-2001) and later his director (2001-2010). During this period he stayed at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium), where he obtained a Diploma for the high school of programs of study Medieval in 1991 and the doctorate in 1994.
He was currently the director of the department of Historical Theology of the School of Theology.
Among his publications are numerous articles in scientific journals and several books, including his thesis : La teología de Boecio. En la transición del mundo clásico al mundo medieval, (Eunsa 1990) and training y evolución del tratado escolástico sobre el Decálogo (1115-1230), (Lovaina, 1997).
As a priest he developed an intense pastoral work, especially among university students. He understood the media as a platform to continue transmitting his knowledge beyond the classroom.
A person of great culture and voracious reader, his favorite authors were Guardini and Pascal. Students, graduates and colleagues remember him for his availability, generosity, optimism and good humor.
