Indulgence and pilgrimage
The three great pilgrimages of Christianity, that of the Holy Places where Jesus Christ lived, that of the visit to the See of Peter or that of the protomartyr of the Apostles, make Jerusalem, Rome and Santiago propitious places to reach reconciliation with God and the improvement of life staff and collective. The holy years or special events declared by the Pope are propitious moments for this.
The sacramental reconciliation by the confession of sins frees from the guilt of the same, but they leave a sequel that requires a purification of the temporal punishment through the realization of good acts that avoid the Purificatory. The Church in its role of mediator between Jesus Christ and Humanity, dispenses plenary or partial indulgences, according to the cases, for those who perform the corresponding action and being in grace, confess their sins in a deadline of a few days before or after and ask for the intentions of the Pope.
In the workshop World Youth Day, a very special pilgrimage takes place: instead of visiting the successor of Peter in Rome, in his headquarters, the Pope himself becomes a pilgrim, who in turn summons the faithful and especially the youth of the world to a place -now, Madrid-, and those who go to the quotation by decision of the Pontiff can obtain the Plenary Indulgence.
