On the (stubborn) energy crisis

Man is a being that stumbles over the same stone again and again. And the group of men, the human society, is a group of animals that stubbornly repeats its mistakes, not wanting to learn from the lessons of the past.

In 1973, the Yom Kippur War, evidenced the dependence of the (?) developed (?) society on its energetic blood, oil. These days, again, almost forty years later, there is talk of government measures to cope with the impending increase in energy. All right, from these discussions will emerge -we hope- solutions to the problem.

But why does not the also serious problem of the management of water in our country come to the forefront? Easy. For the time being it does not affect the pocket too much, nor does it alter the rhythm of life of society.

For years, we have been teaching the future architects and engineers of Building, the future managers of the cities and buildings of our society, how energy can be saved. What's more, we encourage them to come up with alternative solutions to current energy use. But, course after course, there is a stubborn solution that is repeated, whatever the profile of student body: everything depends on Username.

It is not a question of raising the thermostat by Degree in summer, but of not leaving the window open with the air conditioning running if it is really necessary to cool...

It is not a question of putting an aerator on three taps in the house, but of not insisting that every single-family house has a swimming pool (if possible heated in winter).

It is not about changing the light bulbs at home for others of low consumption, but to turn on and off with common sense each and every one of the electrical appliances that we 'must' use every day.

It is not about running at 140 km / h or 110, but to know where you are going.
