What I want to work on

Because of my work as a professor, there are many students who, when they leave IESE programs or years later, come to me to ask me for committee about their degree program career. This is more frequent now, given that, unfortunately, there are many people who are without a work and given that there is less supply. There is also the case of people who are not very motivated with their current job status .

It is important to think about what skills you have: what I know how to do; what I am good at. It is necessary to be realistic about market opportunities: it is not the same to look in booming sectors as in depressed sectors. But the most important thing is to look for motivating jobs that you enjoy, which has a lot to do with learning, challenges and the environment at work. You have to enjoy working. We spend too many hours of our lives at work for that not to be clear to us. Everyone needs to do that reflection, regardless of whether it is easier or harder to change or to find work. It will be a good guide that can enlighten us.

Analyzing business plans with entrepreneurs, many of them have already made that reflection, and have concluded that they prefer the risk but also the illusion of having their own project even sacrificing pay or working more hours. There is no recipe, there is no single solution, but it is a pity not to have made the reflection.
