Merkel's Jupiter lightning bolt

Not everything was going to be a fairy tale in the future of the new Prince of Versailles, Hollande. In the first act of obeisance of the new President of the French Republic, kneeling before Angela Merkel's Germany, a Jupiter lightning struck the presidential plane and forced him to return to Paris for a replacement.

Nature or Chancellor(die Kancellerin) Merkel, fed up with setbacks (elections in North Rhine-Westphalia) and the pretended ambitions of a first-time President. Every President has his baptism as the beginning of his republican reign. Jacques Chirac started it with nuclear tests in the atoll of Mururoa, Sarkozy with a divorce and now President Hollande is starting it with the lightning incident mentioned above. A good image for cartoonists. If Mingote were alive, he would surely have drawn the lightning bolt.

But Hollande, whose political reference is not the crafty Mitterrand, but George Pompidou, the great post-Gaullism president, does not miss a stitch. He has appointed as Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault, mayor of Nantes (in the Loire-Atlantique) and leader of the Socialists in the National Assembly, a former German teacher and a good connoisseur of Deutschland. Everything seems to be calculated. A new President(Monsieur normal), who intends to set himself up as the new European leader, as he made clear in his inauguration speech speech : Europe is watching and waiting for us. But who on the other hand is aware of who is in charge in Europe and for this reason, among others, appoints Ayrault as Prime Minister. It is not for nothing that the first quarter GDP data has put Hollande in his place: Germany is growing and France is decreasing.

Many dossiers are piling up for President Hollande: once the appointment of the new government has been resolved (pay attention to the new Minister of Quai d'Orsay, the former Prime Minister Laurent Fabius and the Minister of the Interior, Manuel Valls from Barcelona, Hollande's right hand man, which explains the statement of ETA calling Spain and France to negotiate), the next challenge is the international diary . Issues such as Afghanistan and others of national and international politics require him, as the diary is full of commitments in the coming weeks: Camp David with the G8, NATO summit in Chicago, etc. The question for our Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Garcia Margallo, is when will it be Spain's turn?

Hollande has treated the Spanish government better than Sarkozy, who used Zapatero as an example not to follow, given the destruction caused in our country. But our President-silent will have to do something, since the alliance with France is now very necessary, both at the community level and at the internal and border level.

For the moment, Jupiter's lightning has not fulminated him, since according to the saying, when Jupiter wants to lose someone, he starts by idiotizing him(Quos Deus perdere vult.. prius dementat), but he will have to be attentive to the German lightning, which can radiate or burn. Let us hope that with the help of the German Ambassador in Madrid Silberberg (a man of the first rank in the European field), our B Minister of Foreign Affairs and other people of Moncloa and Santacruz, know how to watch over our interests, which are those of all the Spaniards who, overnight, have seen their lives altered or shaken by bankers, politicians and arbitrators and incompetents of all kinds and conditions. Let us hope that the Government of Rajoy leaves his silences, recomposes the gesture, speaks to the citizenship and understands with France and with the other European partners. In this way, it will undo our image of being a miser and look for a way out of our ills, which cannot be other than slimming down our State, cleaning up and cutting back on the superfluous (for which expert people are needed and not piece-meal pruners), stopping the bleeding of unemployment and finding out how on earth we can grow! Bearing in mind that all these measures are summary as a single commandment: to return to being a serious country in which investors trust and for this the golden rule is to have a good government. All this, of course, if possible, in core topic of national unity, something so devalued, but so necessary nowadays.
