With a cell phone in our hands we are comfortable and demanding. We want to find information quickly, but we also want the freedom to expand it, save it, comment on it, share it... There is neither space nor patience to navigate through a lot of options. We expect them to decide for us, but if they don't match our preferences, we want to customize how we get information.

Although we are surrounded by Internet-connected devices, we have a more intimate relationship with our phones. In Spain, two out of three cell phones are smart, according to data recent comScore. Apps provide more convenient and efficient access, because the structure and presentation are retained on the phone, which only updates the content. Two other advantages of hosting an information app on the cell phone: alerts, which call for our attention when there is news that we need to know now, and offline reading, for information in places with no signal.

We are not satisfied with toy newspapers. We used to be presented with a battery of titles with tiny photos: density. Now we have real front pages, with more details. The identification between the application and the web version, which we reach from browsers and social networks, is taken care of. There is no reason to stick to a single form of access, nor to a single format. Videos no longer only complement news; they are increasingly designed to show and explain in record time.

We decide which apps we carry on our mobile, and then, almost unconsciously, which one we open to stay informed. That decision by Username comes after a long series of choices by others, once aimed at bringing the computer to the palm of our hand, and now have the goal to provide us with the best possible information experience, influenced by our behavior. Let me choose, but first give me the news.
