"It is a reality that automatable positions are disappearing and people with training are needed. When you know, you are less manipulable, also because of Artificial Intelligence," said Jesús López-Fidalgo, director of the Institute of data Science and Artificial Intelligence of the University of Navarre in the workshop 'Science, faith and challenges of AI'.

At the meeting, organized on February 28 by the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences of the Higher Institute of Religious Sciences of the University in Madrid, Full Professor Jesús López Fidalgo presented the present of the technological revolution that AI represents and pointed out some of its challenges.

The new labor paradigm, regulation, manipulation with false information, the search for profitability of our data and the need for human intervention in decision making are some of the real risks presented by AI.

However, said the Full Professor of Statistics, it is necessary to avoid digression: "From the 1940s until now, artificial neural networks did not have data to work well. AI has taken off because we have a lot of data and more computational capacity. For AI to make sense, it needs a body to interact with the environment, as we do".

"We must educate and train ourselves so that we are the ones who master technology," said the researcher, who recalled that the cell phone, which is "our best username", "is an open window to our privacy".

Focused on 'Science, faith and challenges of Artificial Intelligence', it also counted with the participation of the following professors Santiago ColladoDean de la School Ecclesiastical Philosophy and director of the groupScience, Reason and FaithInstitute for Culture and Society with neuroscientist Javier Bernácer, researcher at the Institute for Culture and Society of the academic center.

Professor Collado, with a discussion paper entitled 'Epistemology of science-faith relations', addressed Ratzinger's contribution to the discussion on the relationship between science and faith. He recalled that Ratzinger recognizes a real conflict between science and faith, but understands it as an insurmountable tension that requires harmonization from faith. He explained that his approach is not based on traditional models, but on the continuous purification of the images and worldviews that have expressed faith throughout history.

For his part, Professor Javier Bernácer spoke in his exhibition on 'science and faith in the evolutionary history of the human being'. He recalled that, despite the efforts of the Church, some still see evolution as incompatible with Catholic doctrine. In his discussion paper he analyzed the theory of natural selection and its relationship to the biblical view of creation, addressing its main points of friction. He also argued that reconciliation is possible by understanding the Bible not as a scientific book and science not as an unquestionable dogma.
