"Foundation and future of the university in the post-secular society", new project of research of ICS

After researching in different centers in Germany and Spain, Carl Antonius Lemke Duque has joined 'Religion and Civil Society', where he develops a project focused on the critical foundation of the Western-Christian identity of the university.

Carl Antonius Lemke Duque has joined the group of research 'Religion and Civil Society' of the Institute for Culture and Society (ICS) of the University of Navarra to develop the project 'Foundation and future of the university in the post-secular society'.

The goal of this new approach of research is a critical foundation of the Western-Christian identity of the university. The central axis proposed to address this foundation is the relationship between the university, the public sphere and post-secular society.

Carl Antonius Lemke Duque is a historian and political scientist. He has been trained and developed his research activity in several centers in Spain and Germany. His area of programs of study covers medieval, modern and contemporary history, Romanic Philology , Philosophy, political science and sociology.

Likewise, his research field focuses on European transnational history (19th and 20th centuries), the history of ideas, Education and religion as well as political theory.

After obtaining the Degree Magister Artium at the Humboldt University of Berlin he did predoctoral research at the Complutense University of Madrid. In 2011 he received his PhD in contemporary history and political science from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich.

Subsequently he has been researcher postdoctoral at the high school Leibniz for European History in Mainz (IEG, Germany) and, later, researcher visitor at the Istituto Storico Germanico di Roma (DHI, Italy) with a scholarship postdoctoral grant from the Basque Government integrated in the 'Innova' team of the University of Deusto. In the 2018-19 academic year, he serves as Visiting Professor of the Degree in 'Philosophy, Politics and Economics' of the School of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Navarra.
