CIMA 2.0: new phase and board directives

Greater scientific weight, development of human capital and institutional relations.

The research center Applied Medicine (CIMA ) of the University of Navarra has changed its management structure. The steering committees and the management committee have been replaced by a single management board . In the act of presentation the director general Jesús M. Hernández indicated that "we are in a period of stability" and thanked the researchers of the CIMA for their excellent work "without which it would have been impossible to achieve this. issue issue Compared to last year, the number of projects with funding from competitive public calls and European projects has increased significantly, and the number of agreements with companies has doubled. All this is due to the scientificskill of the researchers".

In addition to the general director Jesús M. Hernández, the new board Board of Directors is composed of Dr. Jesús San Miguel (director of Translational Medicine), Dr. Javier Díez Martínez (director of the committee Scientific), Dr. Julen Oyarzabal (director of Translational Science), Dr. Ignacio López-Goñi (director of Institutional Relations and development of People) and José María Arévalo (General Manager).

The aim of this restructuring is, among other things, to give the management of CIMA a greater scientific weight so that all the programs of research are represented. In addition, the aim is to improve institutional relations and the development of the workers, as Dr. Ignacio López-Goñi has indicated: "we must take advantage of this unique environment that we have in Navarra: an authentic biomedical campus in which teaching, research and medical application are so closely linked". The new director of Institutional Relations and development of People has reminded that "what is important are the people and in a research center an environment of work must be created that fosters creativity and helps to maintain and attract scientific talent". He also indicated that "the CIMA must also become a pioneer in the dissemination and communication of science to society".

At the event, the new report of the center was presented and Dr. Javier Díez Martínez took the opportunity to recall the raison d'être of CIMA: "we do research to cure".
