Europe 40 under 40' winners to exhibit their works in Athens and Florence
The professors of the School of Architecture of the University of Navarra Asier Santas and Luis Suárez have been selected in the call 'Europe 40 under 40' as two of the professionals with the greatest projection in the European field in 2009. The distinction, awarded by 'The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies' and 'The Chicago Athenaeum. Museum of Architecture and Design', recognizes their career as well as the quality of their works and projects. These will form part of a exhibition whose first venue will be Athens and which will later move to Florence.
A total of 40 architecture and industrial programs of study and design (61 professionals) from 19 countries have been selected: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Holland, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland and the Netherlands.
In announcing the names of the award winners, Chicago Athenaeum Vice President IIoannis Karalias said, "The jury had a very difficult time choosing the winners because of the number of programs of study that were submitted to competition and their high level".
"Innovation in the design, the emphasis on the development of conventional methods and the exploration of new ideas, theories and approaches to contemporary design " were some of the criteria assessed by the jury to make the selection. Nominations for the 2010 edition can be submitted starting November 1.
